Me262 - Jg 7 / Flying Fortress / april 1945

I was wondering if anyone had info about the Jg 7 on the 16 april 1945

On this day, 6 flying Fortress have been destroyed during a raid on Dresden by Me 262 from Jg 7

Specially, I'm looking for details about the identities of these german pilots who 've destroyed these B 17 ?

Fred, what is the source of this information? According to Manfred Booehme's JG 7 history, most of the unit was transfering to bases in Czechosolakia and some sections were grounded due to bad weather. His tabular list of missions for that day lists only 1 B-17 lost and it is not clear whether the single claim by an Me-262 for that day is this B-17 or one of many USAAF fighters lost that day.

JG 7

John,

The source of this infi is "Osprey combat aircraft" B 17 FLYING FORTRESS UNITS - The 8 th AIR FORCE (part 2) - Martin Bowman P. 80

"16 april saw général Spaatz announce an end to the strategic mission o the 8th AIR FORCE, and only some tactical missions now remained. The following day, Dresden was bombed by almost 1 000 aircraft. Eight B 17s and 17 fighters were shot down, including six B.17 by Me 262 of Jg 7". (...)

Good evening ...

Jim P. will become famous soon enough
JV 44 apparently claimed a number of B-17s on the 16th. Go to Ruy's Sticky-FAQ. There is a link on that thread to known 1945 LW claims.

date in April 45

Gentlemen the April date is incorrect. It is the 17th of the month........I./JG 7 scored at least 3 kills and also III./JG 7 was in action and followed back to bases towards Prague where quite a bit of P-51 activity occurred.
