Re: 'Battle of Britain' pilot signing event

Chris

Just a friendly note to say that this thread probably ought to be over in the Allied Air Forces section of the forum.

I last met Geoffrey Wellum in June 1974....and from his photographs he looks no different today! By coincidence, it turns out that his grand-daughter is the girlfriend (I think she still is!) of my step-daughters father. Small world. When I met her she volunteered that grandad was a Battle of Britain pilot. Nearly fell off my chair when she told me who!

It would be good to meet him again. Maybe I should drop in.

Re: 'Battle of Britain' pilot signing event

Opps, sorry. I'm still learning where I should post things around here.

Ha, that's a interesting coincidence. Geoff's certainly a great character. I was with him over the weekend and he's still so bright and cheerful.

John Ellacombe will also be attending and possibly Tony Pickering. I'll keep everyone updated.

(As a side note, John Freeborn has announced that this will be his last signing event)

Don't worry! I did the same when I was a "newbie" here.

Tony Pickering is a great character and had the privilege of being with him last weekend at Duxford.

Yes, I really like Tony, actually all of them are just such gentlemen aren't they.

I think this will be a nice event so it would be good to see you there. Congratulations on the new book by the way!

Thanks Pilot! I'm looking forward to it.

As an update, Bob Doe will be attending. (Tony Pickering is away so won't be able to make it.)
