Re: KG 27 He 111 Z wk 2696

Dan

This was the second prototype of the He 111Z.
I doubt very much it belonged to KG 27 since as far as I know the model Z was never used for bombing missions.

Cheers
Stig

Hi
quote = "sure it's not a plane from KG27"
The foto was made by one aviator from KG 27,certainly by chance during a visit of one Airfield in France (Dijon (no sure) or Etampes perhaps )
You know :
I don't know exactly before, but in 1943 the 111z from the LG2 coming in France (by half to Istres et Dijon)
2 in Dijon (one to Dijon, and one to Tavaux) :
Dijon :
Tavaux :
The 111z from Tavaux was shooting down am 26 february 1944 by planes from 418 sq RCAF.

Hello Dan,

The plane you show on your last picture seems to be the TH+ZL Wn 2697, is the one lost at Tavaux on feb. 44 ???

Hi

The plane on the front of the hangar "Lafaille" (builder) was taken in Dijon.
(thanks for the code)
We can see one 111z in same place on US aérial reco photos in March-April 44
I think it's not the z shooting down on Tavaux.

The second (bottom) was taken in Tavaux, certainly the plane crashed the 26 february 44
Amic, Dan

Re: KG 27 He 111 Z wk 2696

Difficult to get a right idea about those HeZ, some H-2 models wore the same Wn...

2697 TH+ZL
2698 TH+ZM
2699 TH+ZN

Possibly 2701 found in Hildesheim i. april 1945

Norm just from 2695 to 2706 manufactured so 12 pieces, refer to Z models are also given the 3229/PF+UR 3225/PF+UN
