Baltimore V FW 608crashed 26 april 1945 Anguillara Veneta

Hi all,
last saturday,Romagna Air Finders, began the excavation of a 15 sqdn SAAF baltimore, crashed in Anguillara Veneta (Po area).
the presence of a 250lbs bomb, stopped the digging prematurely, but we were able to recover humain remains from the crew, a lot of airframe pieces & the compass too.
We were honoured by the presence of MArk Mathias,Maj.Pil. Walter Mathias nephew.
Friday, maybe,we will continue with the excavation,if the artificers will neutralize the bomb(s)
I would like to thanks Mr Stefaan Bouwer for his support, the Mathias, the field owner, the eyewitness and all the volunteers partecipated to excavation.

Alessandro

Have the South African authorities and the CWGC so they can deal with the remains you found?

Perhaps it would be more senseitive to have the remains identified before you make public statements about who they might be, so that his family might be contacted.

Errata corrige: the Baltimore was FW 412 not FW 608,as written in previous post.
