15 August 1940
Hi guys
An explosion took place at the patrol boat depot at Ostend on 15 August 1940. Three boats were seriously damaged and another slightly damaged. Sabotage was suspected. Do we have further details? Were the perpetrators caught? Stay safe Brian PS: Apparently Belgian Resistance Fighters. Last edited by BrianC; 27th August 2020 at 19:49. |

Re: 15 August 1940
Did Belgium have an effective Resistance organisation less than 2 months after the German victory?

Re: 15 August 1940
Details of the damage are given in the Seekriegsleitung diary:
https://opus4.kobv.de/opus4-zmsbw/fr...itung/docId/24 or https://archive.org/details/wardiarygermann121940germ I don't know if the cause was established but sabotage seems to have been the standard German assumption whenever something went wrong. |
