Spitfire EE722

Hello All,

Spitfire Mk.V EE722 is known to have been wrecked in an accident on 8 January 1945 at Skeabrae. If I follow what A-B register gives, it was serving with 441 Sqn, a type normally not anymore in Sqn use. This accident is even not reported in the 441 ORB.

Any info would be appreciated

TIA

Phil

Re: Spitfire EE722

441 Squadron used a few Spitfire Mk. V in late 1944 / early 1945, but only for training. The on-line Spitfire production history lists "blown onto nose by wind landing Skeabrae CB 8-1-45", which sounds possibly more minor that wrecked. 441 Squadron was based at Skeabrae at the time, having returned from the Continent to Kent in September 1944, then moving north on 30 December 1944.
