Operation Fish?
Hi guys
Probably the wrong forum, but possibly someone cane help. The Armed Merchant Cruiser 'Esperance Bay' was bombed and damaged on 13 July 1940 when 100 miles off Land's End. She managed to return to Plymouth with seven dead aboard. But also on board was 10 millions pounds worth of gold bullion. Was this part of Operation Fish, the movement of British and European gold to North America? Did 'Esperance Bay' later make the crossing with the bullion? Cheers Brian |
