Marking on a B17 Frame
hi to all,
this airframe component comes from a B17 and I try to understand what this marking was for. Is it an indication for the guys at the assembly line ? Or some maintenance mark ? Any hint to understand this marking will be welcome. TIA GC Last edited by gilles collaveri; 12th July 2017 at 09:55. |

Re: Marking on a B17 Frame
I believe you have the second photo positioned upside down. I think it should read C's & Z's in boxes.
My opinion is that someone drew this during the manufacturing process (Is it pencil?). For what reason I do not know, but I don't believe it was a standard step in the manufacturing process. Perhaps a doodle, a game or some type of self imposed drawing to help the worker with the assembly process. The "dots and lines" on the right side are reminiscent of wiring/relay schematics, but that is a stretch. Last edited by Revi16; 17th January 2019 at 02:15. |
