Searching for Nightfighter Pilot Koch,

Dear All,

presently I'm working on some crashes here in Black Forrest/Germany.
In the night from March 15th 44 to March 16th 44 the RAF run a bomber mission against Stuttgart. Based on the "Bomber Command War Diaries" (Middlebrook/Everitt) the RAF lost 41 aircraft.
The Lancaster DV194/CF-F was shot down at 23:21pm near Obereschach/Black Forrest. The German pilot whot shot the bomber down was a "Unteroffizier" Koch.
Does somebody know the night fighter unit Koch belonged to? In addition I'm also looking for the prename of Koch and if he survived the war.
Unfortunately I could not find that details.
Thanks a lot in advance
Rolf

Re: Searching for Nightfighter Pilot Koch,

NJ Combat Archive 1944 Part 1 - Theo Boiten

22:35 Uffz Robert Koch of 6/NJG1 claimed a Lanc near Rosenheim, near Mussig 6km SE of Selestat (Theo has this down as ME558 of 101 Sqn)

He has Fw Alfred Rauer of 3/NJG1 as the victor over DV194 near Freudenstadt at 22:58 hrs

For completeness Uffz Gerhard Koch of 1/JG301 claimed two Lancs near Stuttgart at 23:25 and 23:35 hrs

A different publication has the 22:35 claim as Lt H Koch of 11/NJG3, but I would tend to defer to Theo on this

Re: Searching for Nightfighter Pilot Koch,

Very probably he survived the war:
1944-10-07, 5./NJG 1, Bf 110 G-4, 440130, G9+MN (G9+HN?), Deutsch - Belgische Grenzgebiet
Flugzeugführer Fw Koch, Robert, gefangen
Bordfunker Uffz Ferster, Heinrich, +
Bordmechaniker Uffz Karg, Ernst, +
Absturz nach Flakbeschuß. Bruch 100 %.

Thank you Martin,
based on your info I tend to Uffz. Gerhard Koch. Robert Koch who claimed a Lanc near Rosenheim is too far away from Black Forrest which is close to Stuttgart.
Thanks again

Mathews/Foreman changed these two claims made by "Herbert" Koch to Robert Koch in their Luftwaffe Aces Vol 3

Cheers
