Z1007bis of 211a Sqa, 50° Gruppo, on 18 November 1940
On 18 November 1940 a Z1007bis of 211a Sqa, 50° Gruppo was lost in an air battle against PZL P.24 of 23 Mira in Koritza area. According to Greek sources it was destroyed in a ramming attack by Episminias Gregorios Valcanas of 23 Mira, and both aircraft crashed without survivor.
The Greek source gives the name of the Italian pilot as Sottotenente Mario Longo, and the Italian "caduti in guerra" database confirms that a Mario Longo died on 18 Nov 1940 and has no known grave. I would like to know the names and fates of the whole Italian crew. The serial of the bomber will be an appreciated bonus. Thanks in advance Laurent |
