20th August 1941 losses or damages from 1.(Erg.)/JG 3

Good morning to all,

Am checking the combat of 66 Squadron on the 20th August 1941 off the Dutch Coast.

They made 1 claim for a Bf 109 E shot down (S/L Forbes and Sgt. Green) and 1 damaged (P/O Olver).

They lost 2 machines shot down, apparently by 1(Erg)/JG 3 airmen (Lt. Kirschner and Gefr. Schumacher).

1(Erg.)/JG 3 lost one Bf 109 E for sure: Unteroffizier K. H. Fuhrmann (Bf 109 E-7 werknummer 3187).

ARE THERE any additional 1(Erg)./JG 3 aircraft losses or recorded damaged that day?

Adriano

Lt Hans-Joachim Kirchner was the only pilot to claim on 20 Aug 41 at 1525 hrs which would match with Parsons of 66 Sqn; Uffz Werner Schumacher claimed the following day at 0925 hrs possibly the 130 Sqn aircraft lost that day. Uffz Karl-Heinz Fuhrmann was the only loss on 20 Aug 41 and nothing else was reported as damaged. Durrant of 66 Sqn was damaged and baled out and was later rescued so this would not have been witnessed by the Germans and therefore no claim

Chris,

Thank you so much for the detailed answer. I thought Schumacher had claimed on the 20th, hence my doubts...and thought there should be another 109 slightly damaged....by 66 Squadron.

Most welcomed help indeed. All the best and thank you again.

A.
