For those interested you can find books online at the following sites;

afhra.af.mil has USAF historical series including the ones on the Luftwaffe in WW II

archive.org includes dept of the Army series on the German army in WW II

hathitrust.org

guttenberg.org

generalstab.org official histories online

I hope this is of some use or interest.

I always had hope that these numerous volumes would eventually be translated in full, but I am told that the Japanese language they are written in is very, very difficult for Japanese who today are under age 90 or so; that's just to read and understand much less translate into a current Western language. So I guess we should be thankful for the few translated volumes the Australians and Dutch were able to fund. I strongly doubt if the Japanese Government will ever take this on as a project.

Re: on line reads

That's my understanding also, Larry.

It won't be too many more years until they essentially become "lost" history - sitting there before us, but nobody can read them.
