Re: Churchill's American Arsenal

My calendar seems wrong and it is 1 April already?

The same holds true for many other American weapons credited with the Allied victory: the P-51 Mustang fighter, the Liberty ship, the proximity fuze, the Sherman tank, and even penicillin all began with British scientists and planners, but were designed and mass-produced by American engineers and factory workers.

All the best

Andreas

Re: Churchill's American Arsenal

The book has been released. It includes this howler in the description on Amazon: "... the atomic bomb were invented in British laboratories, but built by Americans."

The British did not detonate their own atomic bomb until 1952 and were deathly afraid of the Russians after they detonated their first atomic bomb in 1949. I attempted to post this on Amazon but got the following: "This book is not eligible to be reviewed." And why is that?

Best,
Ed

..indeed ..should of course read '..the atomic bomb was invented .."

seriously even the average British school kid has heard of the Manhattan project...but British nuclear research was already well advanced prior to December 1941 and it was all handed over to the US. See the 1943 Quebec agreement

Looking at the book it gives me a publication date of 3rd October

Amazon might be preventing people reviewing a book they have not read
