Luftwaffe Loss - 24th September 1942 - over England?
Hi,
I would like to discover if Obergefr. J. Hennermann was KIA over England on 24th September 1942. One aircraft ( Dornier Do 217) from KG2 was lost on this date. Can anyone inform me if he was in this crew? Many thanks Rick |

Hi Christian,
Do you think he was on a mission to England or training flight with KG 40? Were they operating against the UK at this time? Rick |

Here You have to turn to the experts, but i don't think it was on a mission to England, because in the loss report it says, that the crew were flying a H mission (Heimatflug) and not on a F mission (Feindflug), but i feel a little on thin ice here.
Good luck with Your further investigation. Christian

Re: Luftwaffe Loss - 24th September 1942 - over England?
Hi.
The loss record is as follows in the GenQu6Abt document: http://www.ahs.no/ref_db/lw_loss_pub...?lossid=114282 This loss was on a 'Heimflug' as Christian mentioned, thus it is not possible that this flight was an operational flight with England as a target. Probably a training or transfer flight. My best tip with regards to research this further is to try to get your hands on the Namentliche Verlustemeldung for this crew. As you have located the grave of Hennermann, you have both the birth date and date of death I suppose, and I would simply make a request to the WASt in Berlin for information on this loss. Ask specifically for any comment registered with regards to the loss reason as you no longer will be able to receive a copy of the NVM. Regards, Andreas B |
