1/JG 51, November 1940, Colour Scheme.
Hi All,
Could anyone confirm the colour scheme used by the First Staffel JG 51 in mid November 1940? I am interested in Fhr. Erich Vortbach's aircraft, Bf 109E-4, Werk Nr 6266,White 8+. Thanks in advance Joe |

Re: 1/JG 51, November 1940, Colour Scheme.
Elaborate on your request a little please - markings generally followed a similar scheme wihin a unit - i.e. badges, numbers, kills, etc., but camo schemes within a single unit could vary wildly, particularly during the BoB period.

Re: 1/JG 51, November 1940, Colour Scheme.
Hi Jim,
The A.I.1.(G) crash report for this aircraft stated,( Markings; probably 8 +, This marking was on the port side only, Nose and fin yellow.) I would just like to make 101% sure that there could be no confusion with any other Bf109 lost on that date. Regards Joe. |
