Need history on 3 x Bf109E W.Nr.

Hello,

For the EoE Profile project, I'm trying to determine the history of these 3 Bf109E W.Nr.

816
1938 (especially did this a/c go to a repair depot and when)
6010

Need info on markings, unit's, pilots and dispositions.

Thanx

Re: Need history on 3 x Bf109E W.Nr.

Larry,

WNr. 816 was an E-3 assembled by Erla in Leípzig in the spring of 1939 and was destroyed on August 2nd, 1939, in a landing collision at Erlinghausen;

WNr. 1938 was most likely delivered as an E-3 by BFW Augsburg in the spring of 1939 and was lost in a crash on December 29th, 1941; nothing known of a major repair in between.

WNr. 6010 was an E-1 assembled by Fiesler in Kassel in the summer of 1939 and was lost in a crash on July 5th, 1943.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Jochen

Re: Need history on 3 x Bf109E W.Nr.

Larry,

sorry, I misread ypir post taking it that you were not interesetd in markings etc.; so here we go again:

WNr. 816 belonged to 6./JG 26 at least since Mai 1939 and carried the "yellow 1"; it was piloted by Hptm. Herwig Knüppel on the day of its crash in which he was injured.

WNr. 1938 was test flown by Fritz Wendel at Augburg for the first time on November 23rd, 1938 and again early December and was then assigned to 6./JG 26 where I have it for the last time on November 23rd, 1939. Then there is a gap and it re-appears with JFS 5 where it came down owing to engine failure.

WNr. 6010 finally was another a/c of 6./JG 26 and was flown amongst others by Obgefr. Philipp in September 1939. Then no further enry until September 1942 when it was with ÜKdo. FRW Erla apparently for a major repair. The final stage was with JLG Galatz in 1943 where it crashed on July 5th.

Hope thus helps a bit more.

Cheers

Jochen
