Captain Stanley E. Hedstrom
Hello,
Seeking details on the loss on the 28th May, 1945 of the 51st Fighter Group, 26th Fighter Squadron pilot, Captain Stanley E. Hedstrom. 30 minutes out of Chabua AB, India on course 110° degrees. The a/c was reported as being a P-51C, but was it ? Serial number in the MACR is given as "007". But this may just be the a/c in Squadron number worn on the a/c for I'd purposes. But it seems that the a/c in squadron numbers were from "250 to 299" ? I could only find three P-51C's with serial numbers ending with "007", they were - 42-103007 - 496 FTG loss June 7th, '44. 43-25007 - To RAF as HB955 - SoC Feb '47. 44-11007 - To RAF as KH582 - SoC Dec '46. Other "007"s were - 41-37007 -RAF - FH206 - RAAF A16-243 - Mia Oct 1st, 42. 42-84007 - 86FG/526FS - Condemned to salvage Sept 3rd, 45. 43-6007 - details ? 43-7007 - RAF - SR438 - Mia 29th June 44. 44-12077 -details - F-6K - 2x Acc's Missippippi. 44-13007 - RAAF - A16-667. 44-14007 - MACR 7624. 44-15007 - details ? 44-64007 - details ? 44-73007 - details ? 44-74007 - details - Montana Sept,48. 44-75007 - details ? MACR 14521 is available in Fold3. Alex Last edited by Alex Smart; 19th February 2018 at 20:24. |
