ME 109 Crash Germany ( Wiegersen/Hamburg )

Hello everybody ,
I hope someone can help me. In the day of the USAAF attack on Hambrug on 25.7.1943, a ME 109 crashed at Wiegersen (near Hamburg). Pilot has jumped off the parachute. Does anyone have any information about this machine and maybe the name of the pilot? Would be grateful for help.

Best regards
Marcel

Re: ME 109 Crash Germany ( Wiegersen/Hamburg )

MARCEL,

The pilot you are looking for “may be”:

Uffz. Wilhelm Riedmann from II/JG 11, who was wounded in action (WIA) on that date and landed at Sauensiek (nearby the town you mentioned) on the Bf 109 G-1 werknummer 14125.

Also nearby the city you mentioned:

Lt. Wolfgang Gloerfeld from 4./JG 11 bailed out with injuries from the Bf 109 G-6/U-4, code 10 (White), werknummer 420026 after striking the rudder of a B-17 near Biedersdorf, 8 km to the W of Buxtehude.

Most humbly yours,

Baumgartner

Hello Adriano,

according to JFV 10/II on 25 July 1943 Lt Gloerfeld flew the Bf 109 G-6/U4 WNr. 20 026 white 16.

Marcel,

If you find the wreckage, please do share with us some pictures, all right?

Leo, thanks for clarifying the werknummer and code of Gloerfeld's machine. Sadly I have none of the JFV series...seems to be a nice reference since several members do quote from them here.

A.

Adriano,
Are you sure of the Werknummer 420026 because I have never seen a Wknr. in the 42000 serie.

Re: ME 109 Crash Germany ( Wiegersen/Hamburg )

FRANS,

Leo corrected the info I had...the serial is 20 026 as per JFV 10/II...and the code White 16 (and not White 10 as previously informed).

Re: ME 109 Crash Germany ( Wiegersen/Hamburg )

Hello Frans.A and Adriano,

there are three variants:
Gen.Qu. loss return 14 Aug 1943 item 17: Bf 109 G-6 WNr. 420 026
Chronicle JG 1 und 11(Prien, Rodeike 1993) Bf 109 G-6/U4 WNr. 20 026 White 10
JFV 10/II (Prien, Stemmer, Rodeike, Bock 2008) Bf 109 G-6/U4 20 026 White 16.
In the post #3 I have quoted the JFV 10/II.

Regards
Leo
