Junkers Ju 160 WL-UGUV

Hello,

Currently on ebay is a photo of Ju 160 WL-UGUV

https://www.ebay.de/itm/235413839835...gAAOSwLallvPnF

Has anyone any information on which unit operated this aircraft? I am aware that it was with RLM E.Stelle (See) Travemunde at one time, but given the rest of the photos from this seller are largely from the occupation of Czechoslovakia would I be correct in thinking the photos show the aircraft flown by a different unit?

Regards,

Clint

Re: Junkers Ju 160 WL-UGUV

Sorry Tom, no dates. I have just written earlier as

http://www.airhistory.org.uk/gy/reg_D-a19.html

has the machine with E.Stelle (See) Travemunde as D-UGUV,so earlier than the photo,if the facts are correct on airhistory.org.

Regards,

Clint

Re: Junkers Ju 160 WL-UGUV

Unfortunately none of my books specifically on Travemünde mentions any Ju 160, except that one
unknown survivor received the STKZ TK+HF.

My thoughts were that the E-stelle used the type as a "Reiseflugzeug" but since the Golden Years list
five different aircraft in use during the mid 1930s and onward it feels a bit awkward to have all
of them running back and forth to Berlin (or wherever the trips went)....

Cheers
Stig

Re: Junkers Ju 160 WL-UGUV

D-UGUV was in June 1936 in Travemünde shortly after its first flight on 22 June 1936, in September 1936 the Ju 160 was in Tarnewitz.

The aircraft was in Dessau from January to March 1938 for repairs and modifications, last known flight on March 21, 1938 in Dessau as a Übungsflug = practice flight.

I have a photo of the WL+UGUV in Cologne in 1938/39 with the same paint as in the ebay photo. The plane may have belonged to a "Luftdienstkommando". But that's just a guess.

I have no information about the further fate of the aircraft, there are some candidates with Stammkennzeichen but without known Werknummer: BO+PO, CU+QA, ND+OD, RU+NI, SD+EP and a BV+..

Re: Junkers Ju 160 WL-UGUV

4240 definitely went to Japan in August 1936 and I have no Ju 160 with the reg. D-UDOR. This seems to be wrong.

What's your source for 4242 = RU+NI?

Re: Junkers Ju 160 WL-UGUV

D-UDOR is an He70 (thanks Peter for wakening)

I think that Tom mixed D-UDOR for D-UDUR This info came from Klassiker der Luftfahrt nr.4 2007 as also RU+NI.
