Re: Aviatik Berg D.I question
Well Rick, it depends on what you mean....
In Austria there were plenty of Aviatik D.I remaining on the fields and hangars. An Italian report in 1920 gave plenty of fighters on various fields they visited. If they were used? I don't know. The aviation history of Austria from 1919-mid 1923 is very badly covered and I can't really say how effective the Allied Control Commission really was. Sweden for example had no problem "smuggling" quite a large number of Phönix D.II flighters by rail to our Army at the time. My feeling is that other "newborne" states also may have used the type, but I cannot straight away find any evidence for that. Cheers Stig |

Re: Aviatik Berg D.I question
Thank you Stig for the Interesting reply.
I guess "smuggling" was going around in that time frame. Why I find this time frame interesting. Thanks again |

Re: Aviatik Berg D.I question
Rick a few were taken over by the Hungarians after the war and had their first red-white-green wing markings ( they were prohibited from a new Air Force at the time). The Bohemian Flying Club had at least one post-war with painted-out markings and the club badge on the fuselage.

Re: Aviatik Berg D.I question
I would say the air forces of Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Rumania, Slovenia and Yugoslavia. You can find all the details once this book goes to press:

Works for me! Besides Lennart is also busy teaching people, so be patient. No doubt when he gets close he will make an anouncement. Cheers Stig |
