Changes in "Wing Leader" by Johnny Johnson
When I first read "Wing Leader" in the late 1960s, I read the paperback edition. It was and still is one of the best books on aerial combat .
However, many years later, I realized that a large portion of the original text was removed from the paperback edition. It concerns the additional text in Chapter 14-Normandy which described his id of a German ace named Matoni, obviously Walter Matoni, who was acting as 5./JG26 Staffel leader during this time and the incursion into a French village to capture some German horses. Anyone know why this portion of the text was expunged? The rest of the paperback has no changes. Last edited by kaki3152; 21st October 2019 at 01:58. |
