Re: Missing B-24
There would be no MACR as the 23rd October event was an accident.
However there must be an Accident Report. Craig Fuller would perhaps have it and you can purchase it from him via his AAIR website. https://www.aviationarchaeology.com |

Re: Missing B-24
Detail in Craig's List gives D = Damage to a/c as follows
D -4 4 = Destroyed/Major repair - Mid 1944 and earlier. So as October was past mid year( my opinion) the result would have been "destroyed". Also MACR in Fold3 for J.K.Wolff is 10686, 28 pages for 42-52264. Last edited by Alex Smart; 2nd December 2018 at 22:53. |

Re: Missing B-24
I don't have Escape statement of third plane lost on that day, although I did not went through all reels.
It is very probable that third plane missing on that day landed on some friendly airfield and came back to base few days later. In case of Yugoslavia, in Zadar of Vis airfield, or somewhere near Soviet lines. |

Re: Missing B-24
There may be two possibilities,
736 Bomber Squadron A/C SERIAL UNKNOWN Pilot Henry A. LANGE. AND 736 Bomber Squadron A/C SERIAL UNKNOWN Pilot Francis A. MYERS. Co Pilot Henry A. LANGE. Could not find Lange's enlistment details but did I believe find Myers. Myers, Francis A. Air Corps 15328300 Enlisted 02/02/1943 Indiana. ALEX Last edited by Alex Smart; 2nd December 2018 at 05:17. |

Re: Missing B-24
The operational sheets were printed in December 1944 , there was not a 3rd
Lib lost on that day , period . My records which were produced after WWII do not show a third 454th loss on that . PS: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/8841132/donald-eugene-ault Last edited by researcher111; 2nd December 2018 at 15:26. |

Re: Missing B-24
Hi
researcher111 - Very strange. The question is why ??? Why once three Liberator is lost and second time only two? Very strange for me. Maybe this third plane for example had emergency landing for example on the Vis and after one , maybe two days returned. First this plane was missing but in the next documents when they was knowing about situation this plane it was skipped as lost. Henry A. Lange: |
