German Seaplane - sunk in Channel 11 April 1941
On 11 April 1941 the CO of 92 Squadron, together with Flt Lt Kingcome and Sgts Lloyd and Gaskell, attacked and sank a "seaplane" that was being towed back to France across the Channel. Gaskell was then shot down and killed (in Spitfire X4062) when they were bounced by 15 Me 109's.
Can any one put a name to the seaplane type and add anything as regards to its unit, history etc? |

Re: German Seaplane - sunk in Channel 11 April 1941
The only loss of a Luftwaffe seaplane around this date, is that of a Breguet Bizerte (W.Nr. 29) KD+BG of 1. Seenotstaffel. The date of the loss was reported as 12.04.41. The plane had to make a forced landing some 100 km north-west of Brest. During the landing the central and port engines broke off. During the salvage attempt by a Flugbetriebsboot, the aircraft capsized and sank. No casualties reported including a rescued british airman.
