Are German claims for Potez 63 actually Petlyakov Pe-2?
I hope experts on the Soviet VVS may be able to help confirm a theory that Luftwaffe claims for Potez 63s in 1941 were actually Petlyakov Pe-2s, which I understand were newly into service at that time and may not have been recognised by German pilots.
As an example, I am looking at claims for two Potez 63s made by Oberfeldwebel Herbert Kutscha of II./SKG 210 on 22nd October 1941. A record from a Flugbuch suggests combat took place south-west of Moscow between 10:35 and 12:10 (German times) and another member here has tied this down to the area of Troitsk. Does anyone know if the VVS had Pe-2s operating in this area? It would be really helpful if there are also corresponding loss reports. All help appreciated.
