Any information re Ju88 crash August 1940?

Hi guys

Anyone able to provide more information/verification of the following alleged incident possibly in the Croydon area circa August 1940?:

"While returning from a daylight raid on Biggin Hill, a Junkers 88 was hit by anti-aircraft fire above South London and during its descent machine gunned the local laundry and the playground of a primary school before crash landing on some allotments less than half a mile from the school. Three children and two adults were wounded in the attack and the locals were obviously outraged. Being bombed was bad enough but attacking the local school was beyond the pale. Before the military arrived on the scene the pilot was dragged from the wreckage and was in the process of being lynched with his own parachute cords when he and the rest of his crew were saved by the timely arrival of a lone police constable who just happened to know several of the locals personally and who managed to talk them out of the lynching. The pilot had a broken arm and nose and lost several teeth and had both eyes blackened, whether these injuries were sustained during the landing or afterwards was not inquired into. The other three crew members were also knocked about a bit but they were lucky to be alive and they knew it"[/I]
