That is certainly a good possibility. I was wondering if it might signify some type of prototype or modification.

Hello Chuck,
the "A" was the indivdual Code from the plane (like T6+AR), and the replacement plane get the some Code. Either an funny thing but the Crew herself or by the ground crew! Anton is an old facion german male first name!!! Bests, hans |

Look closely at the two photos - the location of the inscription is very different.

Yes it is. Spinner looks darker in my photos as well.
