An old Me 262 photo revisited

Gentlemen

Concerning the photo of Weissenberger in Smith & Creek, Jet Planes of the Third Reich, (1982) p.254 or Smith & Creek, Me 262 Volume Three (2000) p.622.

Two questions:

Is the figure below the wappen a stylized "S" with a curlicue at the bottom rather than a "5" or a "3"?

Is the figure in the wappen an "Edelweiss"?

best regards,

Jim Geens
