Re: Colour scheme Bf-110 II./ZG76
Good Morning all,
I still haven't made any progress on the original topic. 1. "Staffelabzeichen" could be like in the picture for II.ZG76 ? 2. it could be conceivable that in February 1944 the affected Bf-110 had a winter camouflage like in the 2nd picture. I think this picture is more of a fantasy paint job than 100% realistic. But it should be 1944 and ZG76. The yellow wing tips would at least be there. |

After a longer waiting period I have received new information. The "NVM" as a scan in color results in W.Nr. 6430 for me. Possibly still 6930. Aver 6430 is reportedly involved in another loss Fw. Braig/Uffz. Somewhere the records are a little confusing. Greetings, Markus |

[quote=QuaxDerBruchpilot;278538]Good Morning all,
I still haven't made any progress on the original topic. 1. "Staffelabzeichen" could be like in the picture for II.ZG76 ? I think that the Staffelabzeichen was initially identified by Karl Ries Jr. as that of 5./ZG 76 back in the 1970s, but that was subsequently revised to 3./ZG 76. Short-lived, not sure about the precise dates, but possibly autumn 1939 - spring/summer 1940. The Gruppe was later transferred into the Nachtjagd arm, by memory as II./NJG 1. Certainly nothing to do with the year 1944. Regards, Sinisa |

I have worked intensively on this topic again in the last weeks and agree with you that this logo for as a squadron insignia probably does not fit for Stab.II./ZG76. Thanks to user "Merlin" I assume that in early 1944 no more squadron insignia like this were used. Also the paint scheme of the plane is most likely standard paint scheme of the aircraft manufacturer and not a winter paint scheme. This seems understandable in view of the advanced war situation. Only the topic of the "Werknummer" (Serialnumber) is still a bit strange. But I'm sure the experts will get back to you on that. Regards, Markus |

Re: Colour scheme Bf-110 II./ZG76
Hello everybody!
No idea what the theme with the "work number" 6430 or 6930 is. Or is it worth going into the depth with the two pilots "Span" and "Braig" next, who also got lost. Maybe the NVM is misspelled? Regards Markus Last edited by QuaxDerBruchpilot; 1st March 2020 at 18:55. |
