Re: 2019 Edition of the Officer Careers Summary

I agree, we all owe you guys a big debt of gratitude, as your list is a great resource. However, there are still a couple of errors in my uncle's (Major Dr. Ochs) entry. He was never CO of a wing of JG1, and he was promoted Major in April, 1941, not 1944.

So, for example, if one runs into the name Bauer, Hoffmann and Mueller in other than personnel records, and there is no first name accompanying it, it is very difficult to match it to one of the officers by that name that we already have in our Lw.OCS. We are constantly on the watch for this, and when we find a duplicate or other problem we are sure of we delete it. The more entries we have for each name, the less of a problem this becomes.

Thanks Guys (and Chris)

That confirms what I thought

You are correct. 811 was flying Wildcat IVs at the time. The Ju 290 was shared by a pair of RNZNVR pilots, namely, Lt.(A) William Clifford Dimes in FN252 (R) and Lt.(A) Erik Sven Erikson in FN168 (Q).

Re: 2019 Edition of the Officer Careers Summary

Doug and Larry, thank you for continuing this enormous and exceptionally valuable project. It has been a pleasure to be involved and more help is forthcoming!

I urge all forum members to contribute as much as they can to this project, it is a great source for historians.

Kind regards,

Dan
