Question Re: Xaver Ellenrieder (JG.26....and?)

What did Ellenrieder did after WWII? When he was born? When did he passed away?

Re: Xaver Ellenrieder (JG.26....and?)

It doesn't look like he even flew on 11-Jul-43.

Re: Xaver Ellenrieder (JG.26....and?)

Even more strange Jim

From where does his claim come from? Are the microfilms wrong or is the claimer mis-identified/hard to interpret in there?

Also from what log book is JoMe reading from?

Cheers
Stig

Re: Xaver Ellenrieder (JG.26....and?)

Prien/Bock in Jagdfliegerverbande Vol.10 #IV lists the 11-Jul claim, as does Caldwell in Vol.2 of his JG26 War Diary. Ellenrieder was with 8./JG26 from 6-Jun-43 until 13-Aug-43 (flts #1199 to 1301). All the flights are listed in the FB, and I can't find any supplemental/later additions to the FB which does sometimes occur. Also there is no summary list of claims which some pilots will add onto the end of their FB. I second your question. Where does this claim come from?

Re: Xaver Ellenrieder (JG.26....and?)

Ah, I'm missing that 2nd page. The flight numbers are continuous (#1235-1258) in my copy, but your #1247 - #1258 entries are different than in mine. I noted the gap in the dates and missing page, but in my copy they appeared to be later, so didn't make much of it in this instance. Looks like my #1247 - #1258 in mine are the misnumbered flights #1259 - #1270. Definitely confusing!! Thanks for clearing that up! (I wonder if my paper copy has that page?)

Very confusing indeed!

Can someone explain how this is possible?

Cheers
