The beginning paragraph: "Now a man from Abensberg (Kelheim district) has discovered Lützow's crash site in the Kelheim district - he found the colonel's silver cigarette case."

Re: Lützow found near Kelheim/Germany

Re: Lützow found near Kelheim/Germany

Maybe and hopefully a futur book arise about his last flight and additional archeological bits and information, like some years ago the last flight of Adrian Warburton and his remains were finally found, or likewise Andy Saunders did magnificently with "Bader's last flight".
WELL done to the individual who found Lützow's remains or his team.
A.

Re: Lützow found near Kelheim/Germany

Quick translation of post #4:
Unfortunately the final proof (e.g. pilot's i/d tags, Werk Nummer of the Me 262) is missing but the pieces found up until now are very powerful indications that this is the actual crash site of Günther Lützow. The pieces of the aircraft found so far are tiny. The most important find are the remains of a silver cigarette case on which, amongst other things, the enraving "Lützow" can be easily distinguished. Furthermore two buttons from a flying suit and a jacket fastening were found. Now one can only hope to find additional pieces of confirmation, in order to conclusively establish the fate of Günther Lützow.

That's my current state of knowledge which is covered extensively in the article. The discoveries were made by Markus Steinsdorfer with specialist support regarding the items found from Peter Schmoll.

Very interesting, I hope they actually find the remains of this genuine hero and give him a proper burial. He was a very close friend of my uncle during the BoB.
