Me 262A-2a Wk Nr 111685 ? KG51
Hello all
I am wondering if anyone has ever seen a photo of this aircraft, ME 262 supposedly Nr 111685 ? of KG51, marking 9K+FL reason being its the subject of a simple Hobbyboss 1/72 scale model kit but the painting instructions are very small and i wonder what they based their decals etc on It has RLM81/RLM82 on upper surfaces but then largely over painted with RLM76 such that the plane is almost all RLM76. A fairly difficult colour scheme for a basically starter set for kids I'd say. Obviously, difficult for this 46 year also haha https://www.scalemates.com/kits/hobb...62a-2a--101294 https://www.scalemates.com/products/...structions.pdf

Hi Dennis,
http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/album....pictureid=1724 http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/album....pictureid=1725 These are two variations of the same colour photograph. Note the burnt paint in front of the balkenkreuz due to blast effect. I hope they are of use. best regards, Jim p.s. To my eye, the "F" is white. This would make it an aircraft of 1. Staffel. Therefore its marking would be "9K+FH". |

This one is generally agreed to be 9K+FH. Evidence that it is a 1. Staffel machine: the white letter F and the white fin tip. If it were 9K+FL of 3./KG 51, you would expect these to be yellow instead.

Re: Me 262A-2a Wk Nr 111685 ? KG51
ah no,
the whole projects a bit of a waste of time at this stage!! There's a white tip on the tail, not apparently on the nose! I can see its patchy over teh upper camo, would I conclude it was the undersurface colour?? it might be easier to model as being on the dump. Thanks very much for the help on this. I might rethink what to do with it.

Re: Me 262A-2a Wk Nr 111685 ? KG51
Thanks for that.
I've since found two other sideviews with other interpretations of this aircraft, one almost complete oversprayed with the RLM76. This sideview looks more believable. Not sure what the mottle colour might be, can't imagine its RLM76 tho. https://www.asisbiz.com/il2/Me-262/K...r-1945-0A.html At this stage I might as well turn it over to the kids to finish. https://www.asisbiz.com/il2/Me-262/KG(J)51-9K.html Thanks again everyone.

For what it's worth, to me, the camouflage looks like a combination of a pale-medium green and a darker green (as far as anyone can tell from monochrome photos, there were many instances of this on machines of KG 51 and KG(J) 54, but applied in various styles, e.g. patches or wavy lines). |

Re: Me 262A-2a Wk Nr 111685 ? KG51
I'm toying with popping on some RLM02 splotches over the RLM81/82 and I wont put that over the wings.
As you say, i can interpret it as I see fit. Thanks again everyone.

There are lots of photos of this particular aircraft, including a color photo. I will post some soon. I’ve seen a photo verifying that the splotchy light colored mottles (perhaps RLM 82 or RLM 02) were sprayed onto the wings as well.
