Was Fhr. Rolf Braband of III./J.G. 11 one of the missing in the Bodenplatte Operation?
http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/album....pictureid=1727
I do not know what to make of this anomaly found on page 100 of RL 2-III/1172 in the on-line Bundesarchiv. File 1172 is of the missing crews of the Luftwaffe in January 1945, many of 1.1.1945. It was deliberately cut and pasted together and this unusual handwritten entry was deliberately included. This entry and the one below it seems to have been rejected by a later clerk or researcher. I can't find Braband's name in John Manrho's opus among those lost from III./J.G. 11 and there may be a reason for this. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks, Jim |

Obviously it was rejected because he was not MIA any more:
1945-01-01, 11./JG 77, Bf 109 K-4, 330174, 12 weiße, Stampersgat, 9 km nördlich Roosendaal Flugzeugführer Fw Braband, Rolf, gefangen Bauchlandung infolge Flakbeschuß. Bruch 100 %. EKM-Liste: Brabandt. Matti |

Quote:
Rolf Braband is indeed among John Manrho's entries for J.G. 77. I hope that I will be forgiven for misreading J.G. 11 in the above picture. |

I had contact with Rolf Braband during my research for the Bodenplatte book. His account is in the book.
