He.115 combat with 404 Blenheim 15Jan42

Sam McHardy was in a dog-fight with a He 115 on 15 January 1942 whilst photographing a cluster of German Merchantman.

Claimed as a probable could anyone confirm ?

No.404 Squadron was formed on 15th April, 1941 at Thorney Island. I thought 42139 Edric Hartgill McHARDY RAF (NZ), was on No.248 Squadron (or 235 Squadron).

He was on 248 but 404 needed an officer to command B Flight with the right temperament. Posted July 21st 1941 with his navigator Sims following on 31st.

Hi Seaplanes

He has given know indication in his memories of the position, except his crew were taking photographs of a convoy near Bergen. Quarter of an hour afterwards he sighted the 115.

This does not help much. I have no He 115 accident or loss on or around 15. January 1942. No other seaplanes accidents on the West-coast of Norway was reported.
