Me 328 and Reichenberg: When officially canceled?

Hello,

I am trying to find out when the Me 328 and Fi 103 Reichenberg were cancelled by the RLM in 1944 or 45. I assume the Me 328 was cancelled in fall 1944 as it doesn’t appear in the TLR diary from Dec 1944 to Apr 45. The Reichenberg is still mentioned, but only once.

I assume both were canceled in favor of fighter production at some point, but I don’t know of any official document that would orove this (or another reason).

Thanks,

Roger

Roger,

Do not know by heart but on "Test Pilots" by Späte there is quite a number of information onto the testing of Me 328. It is a FANTASTIC and recommended reading, if you have not done so far.

Some time after 12/5/44 for the Me 328 as it is listed at that date in the RLM's development directives summary 'Entwicklung von kriegswichtigen und Schwerpunktsgeraeten'. No mention of Fi 103.

Adriano,

Thanks for the reference. I have Späte’s Me 163 book, but not his Test Pilot book. I’ll get a copy.

Steve,

Thank you for the information. I don’t know that document. I would have expected that the Me 328 was mentioned in the TLR diary if it was still a priority by Dec44 to Apr45. Therefore I believe the program was cancelled between about June to Dec 1944.

Regards,
Roger

Re: Me 328 and Reichenberg: When officially canceled?

ROGER,

I do not have it at hand now, but am sure (by memory) that tests went up to 1945....there is a full description of them there (mid section of the book up to the end). Maybe another member of this Board can confirm or verify what I am saying by checking.

TEST PILOTS (by Späte) was one of the most fascinating books I read..quite simply amazing what the LW did and tested...indeed a fantastic reading (ejection seats trials for He 219, glider tests, etc....). A fully (in my humble opinion) recommended reading. You won't be disappointed.
