Re: Help with Sutterlin - back of photo (He 111 crew)

Being 12 Staffel & the crash was away from the Front, it looks like this crew were still undergoing training so it would appear that there is no link with the photo which say it was taken after a mission. Seidel appears to be a common name

Matti
Only two little problems.
1. As far as I know my German handwriting the names Gritsch, Kling & Benedix do not appear on the back of this photo.
2. It says 1 Uffz, 2x Ogefr & 1 Gefr on the photo

So I think the crew on the photo is not the crew lost on 8/3/1943

Re: Help with Sutterlin - back of photo (He 111 crew)

RUDI and CHRIS,

You are totally right on your statements...Me too can not decipher Gritsch, Kling or Benedix on the text, Herr Rudi...however Seidel could have been transferred back to 12 Staffeln, later?

German crews usually changed more frequently than in Bomber Command...as far as I know.

Chris, you are right about SEIDEL being a common Family Name....have found quite a number of LW airmen named Seidel....

IT is a clue, not a certainty though....unless the other names are known which can give another clue or match an identity 100%.

Thanks again for the help.

MATTI and TIGER TIMON: Thank you for pointing this 12./KG 27 sad loss and the reasons why...(causes)...to collide during a take-off with a Bf 110 G-4 landing....

Adriano: Too many "ifs, buts and maybes" to make this a positive link with this crew, plane, crash or person

Re: Help with Sutterlin - back of photo (He 111 crew)

PRIMOZ and ROLAND: A Big Thank you for "translating" the other names.

CHRIS: Agree...am just trying to find out who they are...will try to enhance the photo or where part of the rudder is visible, to see if a werknummer do arise, but its seems they are just in front of it, therefore, so far, not a clue about the unit or place...or date. The other names discovered by Roland and Primoz do open new roads. Maybe they survived WW2 (hopefully so!)...and therefore it will be almost impossible to find who they are....

A.
