ID of 54 Sqn. NCO pilots in Oz
The following two RAF NCO pilots made claims while flying with 54 Sqn. in the Darwin area in June/July of 1943. Can anyone provide their full names and/or service numbers. It seems that neither of them were commissioned; at least I don't find them in the London Gazette.
F/Sgt. G. Horkin claimed Bettys damaged on 20 & 30 June flying Spitfire Vc EE636. F/Sgt. J. M. Wickman claimed a Betty damaged on 30 June and one destroyed on 6 July flying Spitfire Vc JG731. He was shot down on the latter occasion bailing out uninjured. Thanks, Tom |

Re: ID of 54 Sqn. NCO pilots in Oz
Once again, a big thank you, Col. Both the last names are fairly uncommon so its very likely that the details you give are the ones I'm looking for. The FreeBDM.org website also has only one possibility for each name:
Gerald Horkin born 1921 in Dewsbury, W. Yorks. John M. Wickman born 1919 in Reigate, Surrey. Cheers, Tom |

Tom,
Others will need to add Horkin's birth details, but John Morcraft WICKMAN was born in Reigate, Surrey, on 22 July, 1919. Col. |
