USAAF/RAF attacks on German aircraft industry

From Strategic bombing of Axis Europe Januari 1943 -September 1944 dated 15 november 1944

"Between late July 1943, when attacks upon the German aircraft industry were launched, and 30 September 1944, a large number of attacks were made on German assembly, component, repair and aero-engine factories. Plants damaged by bombing totalled 58 in 1943, and 146 in 1944. Single-engine fighter aircraft factories bore the brunt of attacks, but production of twin-engine fighters, bombers and miscellaneous types also was materially reduced. Practically all the important aero-engine producers likewise suffered bomb damage ."

Interesting it does not only give the target but also what activities were done at the factories attacked. So you can find that Erla Leipzig Heiterblick produced Fuselages & control surfaces and wing fitting for the Bf109. And was bombed by the Usaaf on 20-feb-44 and 29-mei-44.

Global map of Aero industry can be found here
All the interactive maps contain data on more levels be it location, airplane type etc. All searchable strings ( like i.g. day fighter or a date.) in a map can be found by clicking on a single pin on a map see pic 1.
  • Option 1 Search bar. Enter the required search string into the google like search bar. (
  • Option 2 The coloured circle. This means there is a cluster of events. By clicking on this a more zoomed in view will appear. Repeat when needed.
  • Option 3 The pins at the bottom of the map.(Red high lighted circle) The are the dividers I used to project the data. By clicking on it you will get all event concerning that item. So by clicking pin "Bomber" all crashed bomber locations with data as seen in pic on will appear.

"Global map of Aero industry can be found here"

A click on "here" produces an "Error 404" notice rather than your map.
