Re: Photo Aviatik C.I

Clint

To be honest, this one looks like C.2218 to me (just like the seller says)
Since I am hopeless with German two-seaters during WW 1 and even worse when it comes to wrecks, I cannot say what this is.

Since I also believe the two small digits above the actual Bestellnummer should be interpreted as 18, I think (think, mind you ) we are dealing with a DFW C.V C.2218/18

Cheers
Stig

Re: Photo Aviatik C.I

Hi Stig,

It is the style of the serial number that inclines me to believe that this machine is an Aviatik.Do you have either the Aeronaut volume on Aviatik or any WDF at all. Worth a look if so.

Here's a link to a B.II photo. See what you think.

Clint

Re: Photo Aviatik C.I

I do Clint

But regardless of the style, you still have to face the fact that the digits are much more looking like 2218/18 then 3518/15 and the former did not belong to any Aviatik....

Cheers
Stig

Re: Photo Aviatik C.I

Stig,

I believe that the negative is reversed or something of that nature. The photo we are both viewing is not, I suggest how it appeard when taken. Note that the dot following the C appears in the image we see at the top of the C. The 3 and the 2 being reversed.

Clint

Re: Photo Aviatik C.I

Arrrgh

You are right of course Clint.
It is a glass plate and the seller has reversed it. Now it all make sense.
Wreck is up-side-down (or at least the part where the bestellnummer is)

Sigh....
Took a while for the penny to drop....

Cheers
Stig

Re: Photo Aviatik C.I

Hello,

On ebay this evening at :

https://www.ebay.de/itm/1-WK-Aviatik...kAAOSwoXZeelNA

is a photo of Aviatik C.I 839, but C.839/15 or C.839/16 both being Aviatik C.I. Not exactly easy to read on the photo, but any opinions?

Regards,

Clint

Re: Photo Aviatik C.I

Hello,

On 07.04.20 on ebay there is a photo of Aviatik C.I 826/16 alongside a Fokker Eindecker at :

https://www.ebay.de/itm/Foto-Deutsch...gAAOSwARhedKW9

This is captioned by the seller as being at Aviano as have several other photos from the same collection this evening. See the thread on aircraft at Aviano.Hoever Aviatik C.I 826/16 was the machine used for the 'early stealth aircraft' experiments with Cellon covering, so I'm uncertain whether the photo shown is actually at Aviano, though that would be possible, I suppose at a different stage in its career.Hoever, equally, if not more credible is that the Fokker alongside C.826/16 is the stealth Fokker E.369/16 likewise with cellon covering. Re: Photo Aviatik C.I

Hello,

Currently on ebay is a photo of the remains of a Aviatik C.I (Han) .

https://www.ebay.de/itm/2-Fotos-abge...sAAOSwo69ez9jh

I believe two seperate aircraft are shown here and that possibly the second may have been shot down at Villers an Flas, if it exists and that it may be an english machine. So with a view to identifying the serial of the Aviatik has anyone a record specifically of a Hannover built machine being shot down?

Regards,

Clint
