Information concerning loss of Feldwebel Gottfried Egl - France 14th June 1940

Hi,

Tried finding Feldwebel Egl in Then and Now France book but could not find him. Can you please provide information on him?

Thanks

Rick

Not sure, if he was a pilot, because I have the following:
1940-06-14, 4.(F)/11, Do 17P, Dorf Lafauche bei Neufchateau, 20 km südwestlich Nancy, Absturz infolge Jägerbeschuß von Spitifre. Bruch 100 %.
Flugzeugführer Fw Schmidt, Kurt, +
Beobachter Fw Egl, Gottfried, +
Bordfunker Ufw Hummenberger, Hans, +
Alle in Andilly/Frankreich, Block 40, Reihe 3, Grab 16

Yes, he was the pilot and no, he is not in BoFrT&N as I did not have full details of this loss at time of publication. Revised entry now reads:

14 June 1940: 4.(F)/11 Dornier Do17P-1. Failed to return from reconnaissance sortie and crashed near Lafauche, 20 miles south-west of Neufchâteau. FF Fw Gottfried Egl, BO Fw Kurt Schmidt, and BF Fw Hans Hummenberger all killed. Aircraft 100% write-off.

Hallo Peter

Unless you mean there was a second 4.(F)/11 loss, I presume you update the loss given on page 470?

Cheers
Stig
