Lt. Darrell Williams 523th FS and his A-36 crashed 10 sept. 1943

Recently we find crash site of A-36 of 2lt. Darrell Williams. He started from Sant'Antonio, Sicily at 10 sept. 1943 and was shot down during strafing about 50 miles south of Salerno. He bailed and survived. We find his crash site. Someone can help us to find more informations about life of Darrell Williams? Thanks.

Salerno1943,

My best estimate is that he was Darrell E. Williams (O-799696), born in West Virginia in 1920 and who enlisted in the Air Corps at Baltimore, Maryland on 24 March 1942.

It appears that there is a MACR 703 about this loss. Perhaps it has some more details about him like home address?

A-36 42-83938.

Regards,

Leendert
