Time for the loss of stk Oblt W. Ross on 5 june 1940 ?

Hi,

In his book "Jagdfliegerverbände teil III", 2001 Prien & al do not give the time for the loss of Oblt W. Roos (II./JG27).

In his book "Les victoires de l'aviation de chasse Française La luftwaffe à l'ouest - tome 3 - 5 juin 1940-24 juin 2005" Arnaud Gillet gives 15h00 and the place of Thiescourt for this loss.

Is there new document which has been surfaced between these two books with precise time of the loss of the staffelkapitan W. Ross ?

TIA

Bertrand

BofF T&N says Oblt Walter Roos (not Ross) says he was shot down by 3 pilots from GC II/5 east of Montdidier and crash-landed at Thiescourt 1500 hrs and was captured.

Re: Time for the loss of stk Oblt W. Ross on 5 june 1940 ?

Thanks for this. But a look in the Flugbuch of II./JG27 could confirm the time of "15h00". Does anybody hold a 5./JG 27 logbook for this 5 june 1940 ?

TIA

Bertrand

Hi Bertrand,

From Michael Balss loss list compilation we get the same thing:
Thiescourt (im Wald bei), S Lassigny (LK: Montdidier, östl.)
(St.K.) Luftkampf mit Moranes, GC II/5 (15:00), FSA
FSA, verw., zur.
GQM (#1-2); Ring/Girbig, JG27, s.42, 346; Cornwell, BoF, s.427

Ciao,
Franck.
