Escaped POWs
In the book on the 55th.FG it relates how in late 1944 ( Nov.) eight escaped POWs including two Luftwaffe pilots got onto Wormingfield Aerodrome, and attempted to start two P51's which failed. Folowing a search in nearby woods the eight were later recaptured. Has anyone got anymore information on this incident and who were the two pilots involved ?
