MACR's 16524 and 16526 ?

Hello,
Can someone please confirm or otherwise.
MACR 16524 - 09/05/1943 - 42-5248 - Danish - 97BG/342BS
And
MACR 16526 - 13/04/1943 - 42-5248 - Danish - 97BG/342BS.

Or is one or other incorrect ?

Thanks

Re: MACR's 16524 and 16526 ?

MACR 16526 is correct with George Danish as pilot and can be found by MACR number or plane number (42-5248) on fold3.

MACR 16524 does not have a plane listed on fold3 but the crew is listed. It can be found by MACR number on fold3 (only). There is more information in the fortlog which includes both the plane number and the crew list. The pilot was John H Holmes.

see page 46: https://www.91stbombardmentgroup.com...ID/FORTLOG.pdf

Raymond C Lewis, the tail gunner, was the crewman who bailed out over the sea. He was seen in the water but was not rescued. The plane crash landed back at the base.

The second image on this link shows the damaged tail.

Re: MACR's 16524 and 16526 ?

Hello Rolland,

From Accident-Report.com

16524 430509 DANISH, GEORGE B-17F 42-5248 PALERMA AT SEA, SICILY
16526 430413 DANISH, GEORGE B-17F 42-5248 TRAPANI, SICILY

From AAIR

16526 430413 B-17 42-5248 97 342

So MACR 16524 ?

As for MACR 16254 I found two.
8/2/43 - 97BG/414BS - 41-24415 - B17F - Holmes.
And
28/5/45 - 506G/462FS - P-51 - K. M. Miller.

Alex
