Does anyone know what aircraft this might have come from. Someone posted it in another forum and hasn't been able it ID it. Supposedlyit was brought back as a war souvenir. Thanks

Re: Help with aircraft part

Sadly many fakes along these lines have been produced, both WW2 and WW1. Some have even been folded or rolled to simulate being stored in a soldiers pack/kit
Thats not saying this is a fake but I would not now trust anything like this unless I took it from the hand of the soldier who cut it out.
Does it have any letter of provenance with it?

Only that the soldiers name, unit, and date are written on the back. He states that the vet's widow claims her husband brought it back folded up in his duffelbag. If it is period and not a postwar created souvenir, any ideas one what it could have come from?
