Heinkel 177 Loss
Hi,
Sine long years i'm searching about datas for one Heinkel 177 destroyed after force landing on GAF Flugplatz Dijon (1944.07.25). Same day we have one important straffing on the airfield, The Major Rogers (Buck rogers) celebrous P-38 Bucarow first destroy Junker 52 on ground : 5 for whitness /8 for Ultra files For moment, i have not good explanation for the origin of the Ju 52. Certainly transports planes ( who moved ground crew from JG 200). In same times the ju transport German's Railsmans injuried by bombing in lyon (without red cross painting on plane), impressive damages ... In the afternoon it's p-47 who shooting down the greiff on the airfield, confirmed by ulta files ...): Sources : French officer General Mutin take one part plate on the 177, it's in Dijon Air base muséum . (with ersatzteilist i know it's one part from tail, certainly 177 A-5) Ultra files from prodoc confirm. One reco pic from RAF am 44.08.28 confirm, we can see 177 wreckage . Last week i can bought one picture coming from one US veteran taken in Dijon . On pic we see, one Ju52 wk 7765, Jörn Junker say me in 1943 this plane was used by Training group (Blindfliegerschule 7), certainly after in 1944 it's used by one Lw Transport unit not identified ... So the pic bought in us not permit to see the SKZ on the 177, (i thinks it's the greiff because i see the size of GI near the Tail of the plane, to big for one J8 88 from NJG (nombrous in Dijon) So who can help for know the unity for this Greiff schooting down am 25.08.1944 in Dijon Airfield . Thanks by advance, Kings regards, Dan

Re: Heinkel 177 Loss
To me it looks Ju 88 : no tail turett, rudder all way down, fuel ejector is there, tail wheel well open etc. I guess these were just SMALL american soldiers
