Uffz. W. Maier lost on 16th august 1940

hi,

Can anyone confirm which unit Uffz. W. Maier flew with? He was killed on the 16th August 1940 flying with a destroyer group. I think I have reduced it down to two aircraft:

2/ZG 26 member of crew with Uffz. Drenkhahn or;

stab II/ZG2 Uffz. lost with Major Carl (Gruppe Kommandeur)

Can anyone confirm my suggestions or have further knowledge?

Thanks as always

Rick

Hi,
According to Peter Cornwell and John Vasco's book "Zerstorer" Uffz Wilhelm Maier was the Bf for Major Harry Carl, Stab II/ZG2, lost 6km south of Beauzeville.
Joe.
