II./KG77 Battle of Britain

Hi guys

Did II./KG77 (specifically 6.Staffel) fly any operations against RAF airfields in August 1940?

Cheers
Brian

Re: II./KG77 Battle of Britain

II./KG 77 was re-equipping with the Ju 88 at Fürstenfeldbruck 13 Jul-27 Aug 40 when it returned to Laon-Couvron. Unlikely then that it would have flown operations in the next 4 days. Why do you ask?

Re: II./KG77 Battle of Britain

Hi,

according to logbooks that I have 6./KG77 was transferred from F-feldbeck to Couvron on 29.8.40.

Regards

Robert

Re: II./KG77 Battle of Britain

Hi guys

I read an article about Dietrich Peltz, which implied that he carried out an attack on an airfield during the Battle of Britain. I understand that he was with 6./KG77. If this is incorrect, can anyone advise his unit at the time, please?

Cheers
Stay safe
Brian

Re: II./KG77 Battle of Britain

Peltz was with 1./StG 76 until converting to the Ju 88 and being posted to Stab./KG 77 at Laon at the end of Aug 40. Nothing in his bio about such an attack but Hptm Walter Storp of III./KG 76 did a number of such attacks including Wattisham and Northolt for which he was awarded the RK. If this is in relation to the 16 Aug 40 BZN attack, search BZN on this Forum
