2./NAGr 13, Info in German Military Archive?

Hi All,

resently I'm considering a visit the Military Archive BAMA in Freiburg to search for information regarding 2./NAGr 13. I'm especially interested in some info during 1944 and 45.
Is there anybody who can tell me for which binder (RL xxx) I have to ask?

Is there even some information?

Would be a great help to save a lot of time.

Thanks a lot in advance

Rolf

You'll be far better off registering to use the Invenio search engine: https://invenio.bundesarchiv.de/invenio/login.xhtml

You can then prepare and provide the file references in advance of your visit. I suspect you'll find little if you just search under NAGr 13. You'll likely have to be a bit more creative with your search terms.

Thanks Steve,
Try my best to be a bit more creative.

Don't forget though that you might be able to review a couple of Lutwaffenpersonalamt files in PERS-6.

There's also the series of disposition maps (it was the KART 40 series when I visited BA-MA long ago), »Aufmarsch der deutschen Luftwaffe an allen Fronten« which shows you unit locations and strength/serviceability of units.

Do these maps cover the Eastern front also, and for what timeframes?

Best regards,
Andrey

It's almost 0100 in the morning in Great Britain right now, Andrey, and I am sure Nick has retired for the evening.

BA-MA Signatur RL/Kart 40 consists of c. 30 or 40 maps as Nick described beginning in February 1944 and ending in early October 1944. There are a few for 1943 as I recall, but those are for the Luftflotte 5 area (Norway and Finland). That's from memory, so perhaps Steve and/or Nick have more accurate information using the Invenio search engine.

Thanks Larry,

Quoting mainly from memory too (30 years but also two or three partial photocopies) there are also some for 1945. I was looking at Italy mostly, with a bit of Southern France and Germany/Austria. They were pretty big sheets (needing a table to spread them out) and there was “on all fronts” in the title, so the East could well have been included.

A thing I do recall is that unit names were given as “III./2” etc with coloured inks were used to differentiate JG 2 from KG 2 or SG 2 or whatever. That’s fine until you get a b/w photocopy and take it home (see the atttached, part of the map for 5 September 1944).
