July 8, 1941, Sergeant Leonard May

Hi all

Few questions about this, anybody know any more?

July 8, 1941, Sergeant Leonard May

Collided with another aircraft neat Huntly. Any idea details of other aircraft / Pilot and outcome? Sgt May died in his Hurricane.

Re: July 8, 1941, Sergeant Leonard May

Since they did not fly the same aircraft, May was in P2724.

This Alain of course knows, but for some reason it did not come out as he intended....

Cheers

Re: July 8, 1941, Sergeant Leonard May

Now that was a surprise Alain

My sources says P2826 was SOC 24 May 1944 with 5 PAFU (Air Britain), while P2724 was lost with 17 Sq on 8 July 1941 (Air Britain and Air War 1941 - the non-stop offensive, part one)

What is your source for P2826??

Cheers
Stig

Great Alain

Now our sources agree.
Mistake? There are days when I even refuse to look in the mirror...
We all have those days...

Hello,

The P/O Sheldon involved in the MAC on 08/07/1941, was AUS402256 P/O Mark Ernest SHELDON RAAF. On his return to Australia, whilst serving on No.75 Sqn RAAF, he was shot down and killed in New Guinea in Kittyhawk A29-123 by Japanese fighters on 11/08/1942.

Remind me of Somerset Maughan

"I was surprised to see him over England, we had appointment in New Guinea"
Once lucky....not twice....

Thanks for the update Col
